Welcome to South Miami Lutheran Church!

The stained glass window in the sanctuary of South Miami Lutheran depicting Jesus with outstretched arms is an expression of the hospitality offered to all.  No matter where you are in your faith journey, you are invited to join in community with others and explore what it means to be a beloved child of God.  South Miami Lutheran is a place to grow in love, grow in service, and grow in faith.

If the church can be of assistance in any way, feel free to call (305-665-2562) or email Mary in the office at mksmlchurch@bellsouth.net or email Pastor Katie at pastorkatiesmlutheran@gmail.com.

Remember: all are welcome at South Miami Lutheran Church.  See you Sunday!

God's peace~

  • Taking the Sermon Home

In one way or another, all the appointed texts today (Job 19:23-27; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17; Luke 20:27-38) relate to what happens after our earthly death.  Job asserts he will receive justice at last; the Thessalonians are concerned about the return of Jesus and in Luke, the Sadducees question Jesus about the resurrection.

-What thoughts and feelings stir within you when you contemplate life after death?

-How do your thoughts about existence beyond death impact how you live now?

What do you see around you to affirm Job's proclamation, "I know my redeemer lives?"

  • Bring a Friend Sunday

South Miami opens its doors to all, and offers a special invitation on Sunday, November 24 to join in worship at 9:15am.  The community will be made richer by your participation--come and be part of the morning.  A brunch will follow the service.

  • Time For Healing...A New Opportunity at South Miami Lutheran

We yearn for serenity--especially as a hectic holiday season approaches.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18 is the next "A Time for Healing," offered in the sanctuary of South Miami Lutheran every first and third Monday from 7 to 7:45pm.

There will be silence, quiet music, and a chance to focus and center the spirit.

The theme on November 18 will be contemplating our relationships.

  • New, Native Pines and Saw Palmettos...Thank You, Bob Welsh!

Thanks to City Commissioner Bob Welsh, the church has Dade County pine trees on the property.  Bob spent hours at church, breaking through coral rock to plant the young trees.  Soon he will be adding saw palmettos.  We thank him for his dedication and hard work!  If you are interested in obtaining free trees, Bob asks that you contact him at 305.753.8395.  He'll even help groups that need assistance with planting.  Together, we can enhance the beauty of our county and restore native plants.

  • Calling all Knitters & Crocheters

Please share your skills to help premature babies and chemotherapy patients by creating caps to help them stabilize their body temperature. Simple patterns are available.  Learn more by contacting the church office or speaking to Fiona on Sunday mornings.
