You never know who is a Lutheran just like you, please click on the above link and smile.
Hello, welcome, and thanks for stopping by our South Miami Lutheran Church web site. Our prayer is that this site will be a reflection of our wonderful congregation and a place you can always find yourself.
Over the summer on this website you will find updated information on everything about us -- our ministries, activities, and more -- as well as articles, pictures, and the weekly readings. We hope you enjoy everything it has to offer you.
For those of you who do not know us, we have a beautiful stained glass window depicting Jesus with open arms. This reflects our church whose vision / goal / purpose is new people coming to it because they want to know Jesus Christ and members coming because they want to continue growing in their faith and to share it with others. Just like Jesus, we welcome you with open arms so we hope you come visit us soon!
We at SMLC are committed to being part of a tight-knit community of people who support and celebrate one another. The people of South Miami Lutheran Church along with interim pastor, Rev. Paul A. Kruger, the Church Council and Committees welcome all people to share in its worship and ministry in proclaiming God’s love. Through Jesus Christ we reach out to each other, our community and our world.
If you live in town, stop by and see us. If you do not live in Miami but are visiting, we hope you will stop by and visit with us. We’d love to have you.
If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact us at (305-665-2562) or by sending e-mail to Mary at the office at email@example.com.
Remember whether you are a member or not, you are always welcome at South Miami Lutheran Church.
God Bless You!

Our Veterans (especially from WWII) will be visiting Washington DC war memorials on Saturday, Oct. 29th and returning via MIA airport around 7:45pm. Traditionally we send a group to welcome and show support by handing out stars cut from US flags. This is an emotionally rewarding experience for all. If you would like to participate please contact Fiona or the church office.
We are partnering again this year with our preschool to fill boxes which will be sent by Samritan's Purse to children around the world, making sure they have something special to look forward to at Christmas. It is easy and fun, simply select a shoebox (cardboard or plastic) and decide if for boy or girl, and the age range you prefer. Then you fill the box with small gifts, school supplies, toiletries, etc. There are instructions at the back table in church or ask Fiona for ideas. If you would rather bring in the items we can fill boxes for you or if you prefer to give a cash donation, it can be used for shipping costs ($7.00 per box) or to buy items to fill boxes. The deadline is November 13th.
Adult Bible Study meets immediately after the service in the back of the sanctuary. Bring your bible or use ours, ELCA lesson study sheets are provided. Each week is a new lesson, based on the lesson of the day in the workship bulletin. If you wish, pick up a cup of coffee in the Fellowship Hall, say "hello" and join the group. All are welcome.
We are collecting items to send to Haiti and Cuba. The Haitian shipment will go to Pastor Marc Charles from St. John's Lutheran Church. He is sending shipments of relief items such as: clothing, non-perishable food items, toiletries, bedding, etc. Cash donations are being accepted for transportation costs. The donations for Cuba will be delivered by our caretaker Yamara and given directly to the people.
As a fundraiser for SMLC we are collecting an old sneakers you may have, regardless of condition. This will provide an opportunity to recycle them as well as a $1.00 contribution for SMLC. Please ask neighbors and friends for theirs too and drop them in the container at the back of the church or bring to the church office. "REDUCE. REUSE. RECYCLE"
Please share your skills to help premature babies and chemotherapy patients by creating caps to help them stabilize their body temperature. Simple patterns are available-see Fiona.
Voices needed for our choir, no experience needed. We practice 30 minutes before Sunday service and about 15 minutes after. Our new organist is a voice coach so she can help develop our talents.
